WEEK NINE
Our week at Trinity started with tremendous energy and support at the Open Community Council Meeting on Monday night. A significant percentage of parents gathered to consider the question, what do we want the future of Trinity to be? As a new Principal, I have the opportunity to offer a blank canvas, to listen and to wonder.
Thank you to
parents who were able to come,
parents who wanted to come, but were unable,
Penny Lucas’ mum, Carmel who made spaghetti bolognese for the students,
Ciley Weitzel who volunteered on the night to help,
Penny Lucas who was chief babysitter,
Sarah Meier from CE who supported all community members,
the current Community Council who embraced the meeting with a sense of openness and
the Holy Spirit, whose presence was overwhelming.
I think the term “TEAM TRINITY” is apt to describe something of who we are.
INTERM REPORTS
Interim reports were sent home this week. You may have noticed some changes from previous years. These changes reflect the social and emotional skills that teachers are expected to report on. The social and emotional well-being of students can impact significantly on a student’s ability to learn. For example, if a child is processing social and or emotional challenges this may result in a significantly heavier load for the learning part of the brain. If your child’s teacher has requested an interview, please make every effort to meet with them before the end of the term. This will enable goals to be set for Term Two and the TEAM TRINITY approach to thrive.
QKR
In previous satisfaction surveys and on Monday night, the question around easier methods of payment has been brought up. It is difficult for some families to provide cash for items such as the canteen, sporting events and excursions. For other families cash is an appropriate option. With this in mind, as of next term QKR (Quicker) will be available to all families. QKR is an easy-to-use mobile app for iPhones and Android smartphones that makes school payments a breeze. This does not mean you have to use QKR, you can still pay cash, we are meeting the needs of all families by offering both. Please watch this space for further instruction.
TEAMING UP IN TERM TWO
Next week a letter will be sent to all families explaining an online system whereby families can sign up to come into the classroom. We really want to team up with you, you are important to us and you make a significant difference to your child’s learning. We are working at making all communication easy for families and hope this initiative will improve your ability to team up with us.
EASTER HAT PARADE
Next Thursday at 10.30am our friends from Bunyip will join in the celebration of Easter Hats by being part of our Easter Hat parade. Afterwards our Year Five and Six students will give the students from Bunyip a glass of milk and an Easter Egg as a small gesture of friendship. Please join us for this community celebration.
TEAM TRINITY AGM
On Monday 10 May, 6pm in the Hall will be the Trinity Community Council AGM. At this meeting, the new Community Council for 2021 will be decided. Further information will be communicated to parents and the community as they become available.
WHO AM I?
Last weeks WHO AM I? was Isabella Pollard.
The winner of the Mufti and Milkshake voucher was Jaslyn Killick.
So far Stevie, Phoebe, Sommer, Sammy, Jaslyn and myself will be heading to Jackson’s next Thursday.
The next WHO AM I? will be in the Week One, Term Two, newsletter.
MRS PERRYMAN’S HIGHLIGHT FOR THE WEEK
This week I was standing next to Mr Niddrie at recess when three senior students approached him and asked if they could return to the classroom to collect their books, they wanted to continue their learning (every Principal’s dream). After much discussion, the students collected their things and continued their learning on the playground. The following day the same three students bolded into the Front Office and enthusiastically requested that they see me because they had something exciting to share. Off we went into the meeting room where they explained Miss Wade had challenged them to find a particular number of words that had the “tion” sound. To the girls’ delight, not only were they able to tell me they exceeded Miss Wade's expectation, but they had almost tripled the expectation. Further to this they said, “there are so many words with this sound Mrs Perryman.” Congratulations to Talia, Bea and Zoe, your enthusiasm for learning will take you on tremendous adventures.
God bless each of you and enjoy the weekend.

Sacrament of First Eucharist
Last Sunday 15 children from our Parish received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion at St. Anthony’s Church. This was a beautiful celebration for the children who have been preparing to receive this Sacrament over the past eight weeks. In this Sacrament we remember what Jesus did for us in his life, death and resurrection. We remember particularly the Last Supper, that final meal Jesus shared with his disciples. At that meal Jesus gave us the Eucharist so that we could remember him in a special way. When we receive Communion, we believe that we receive the person of Jesus into our very beings. We become one with him, and we become one with each other. As a community we become 'the body of Christ'. As we receive Christ's Body and Blood, we also are nourished spiritually and brought closer to God.
Thank you to all parents and friends who supported the children on the day and to those who teamed together to make this day such a special memory for our children. Special thanks to Mrs Julie Doolan (Sacramental Team Administrator) for the organisation and preparation of the children along with the joint effort of parents, teachers and Father Lolesio. Thanks to Mrs Penny Lucas for the celebration cupcakes packaged up for each candidate at the end of mass. Thanks to the children who supported their friends in the choir.
Harmony and Belonging Mass
This week Trinity celebrated a whole school mass with the theme of Harmony and Belonging. Harmony Week is a time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into our community. Australia is one of the most successful multicultural countries in the world and we should celebrate this and work to maintain it. The message of Harmony Week is everyone belongs. It is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values. It creates an opportunity to think, talk about and recognise how our differences make Australia stronger.
Thanks to all teachers and students for the shared prayers and readings and to Year 3/4 who communicated a Harmony Day song through ‘Auslan'.
Palm Sunday
This Sunday is Palm Sunday.
Palm Sunday commemorates the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem (Matthew 21:1–9), when palm branches were placed in his path, before his arrest on Holy Thursday and his crucifixion on Good Friday. It thus marks the beginning of Holy Week, the final week of Lent.
In the Gospels, Jesus entered Jerusalem riding a young donkey. The townspeople threw palms or small branches as a sign of homage. This was a customary practice for people of great respect. Palm branches are widely recognised as a symbol of peace and victory.
Palm Sunday mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s this weekend at 9am.

Sixth Sunday of Lent – 28th March
This weekend is the sixth Sunday of Lent. This is the last week of Caritas Australia’s six-week Lenten fundraising appeal.
This year, Project Compassion is built around the theme to ‘Be More.’ It is taken from the words of St Oscar Romero to “Aspire not to have more, but to be more” and challenges us to venture into a new experience of compassion. Just think of Simon of Cyrene in this weekend’s Passion Gospel. We are called to help carry the cross in the world today. Project Compassion enables us to do this.
For over half a century, generations of Australians have participated in Project Compassion. The initiative has raised more than $500 million since it began in 1965 – making it one of the nation’s longest running charity campaigns.
Please take some time to read the article about this Australian Icon and watch the video.

Yr 3/4 Open House
Year 3/4 completed their open house as an episode of Little Lunch- inspired by Sannon's creative writing. Students took parents through a typical day in the classroom, exploring some of the key concepts and discoveries that they have made in Term 1.
Thank you Year 3/4 for such an entertaining and informative Open House.
Western Region Cross Country
The Western region Cross Country will be held in Boorowa next Tuesday. Trinity has a team of 30 children attending the carnival. Trinity school staff and friends wish the Cross-Country team all the very best for a successful and enjoyable day.
